No-supply advance

Bullish

A price band crossed in a single move by a tall, all-but-wickless up bar on a burst of volume — almost nothing changed hands in that range, so little stock sits trapped inside it. Unlike an FVG, which is defined by the shape of three bars, this band only prints when the volume actually stacked at those prices is clearly thinner than at the prices next to it. Losing the level the advance started from (the band's lower edge) on a close ends it and it leaves the chart

Most patterns resolve their way only 50–60% of the time — nearly half miss.

Textbook shape

How to read it

A price band crossed in one move by a tall, all-but-wickless up bar on a burst of volume. Almost nothing changed hands at those prices, so there is almost nobody sitting there waiting to get out at breakeven. Stack volume by price and the band shows up as an empty shelf.

It resembles an FVG but is defined differently. An FVG is a shape — three bars whose high and low fail to overlap. This band is a distribution: the volume actually stacked at those prices is clearly thinner than at the prices around it. So a stretch where the bars do overlap can still be a void, and one where they don't may not be, if price traded there heavily in the past. The band is also much wider than an FVG — the whole crossed range, not one bar.

SQMATE keeps only bands that have not lost, on a closing basis, the level the advance started from. Give that level up and the band leaves the chart.

On SQMATE

No more eyeballing charts

You don't have to flip through charts hunting for shapes. Signal watch pings your browser the moment a condition is met, patterns on your watchlist arrive by email, and the screener lists every symbol that matched today.

SQMATE draws the lines

Support lines, trendlines, channels — the lines you need to read a pattern are drawn for you, so no time goes into drawing.

Patterns aren't the whole story

The same shape doesn't always resolve the same way. It's safer to read it together with candles, volume, and market context — news, catalysts, flows.
